API Chiapas concerned to mitigate the damage done to ocean bed on the port area, called to a meeting for the creation of the pollution committee for fishing dock at Puerto Chiapas; this committee is composed of the port community and relevant authorities, and it is continuously in session from June 15, 2015 when the incident of fish mortality was presented.
In the meeting held on March 16, this year in the facilities of the Port Authority of Puerto Madero S.A. de C.V.; we had the participation of the President of Tapachula H. Neftali del Toro, holders of the Ministries of Infrastructure and Coapatap from the City of Tapachula, XIV Naval Zone; Jorge Constatino Kanter, Delegate of PROFEPA; Amado Valdez Rios delegate of SEMARNAT and directors of companies located in the industrial park and RFE: Procesa, Herdez, Cafesca.
The purpose of the meeting was to generate bilateral strategies to counter such pollution, through action plans and shared responsibility and anticipate future needs linked to the development of Puerto Chiapas as Special Economic Zone and the Agroindustrial Park. During the meeting API released the follow-up actions taken, as not being pollutant, as a measure of action informed by a complaint with PROFEPA and CONAGUA Tuxtla Gutierrez, pollution presented at the fishing dock and fish kills. It also took delivery through official request to the Chief of Infrastructure and Communications, the need to put in operations the sewage treatment plant; the comfort letter was signed by assignees of API, service providers and enterprises located on state land.
Within these actions, API in conjunction with Herdez, Procesa and Cafesca, hired a study on water to determine the cause of pollution; for the study, samples of discharges from the fishing piers were obtained; all actors were open to be verified.
In order to define the line of action and the joint strategy it is necessary to wait for the reading of the results obtained by the company Link Business, Management and Administrative Services ZR Mexico S.A. de CV, which will be delivered in April and resulting therefrom a tour verification and status to the treatment plant water located in the Industrial Park to determine whether it is reactivated temporarily or is necessary to build a new one that supports the Puerto Chiapas growth.
